Going on a journey? Great! But everybody knows that there are some things that have to be done before leaving. It's important to find the necessary and practical information which will be needed for a safe journey, to have a great time when you arrive and to be able to visit all the places you want to see with no problems. And we know how difficult it is to find a reliable and complete source of practical and useful information.
I have been ‘on the other side' many times preparing a new trip, browsing the Internet, looking here and there with no satisfactory results. I often wondered at that time what kind of web site or printed magazine I would like to consult to have the answers or some propositions to all the questions I had. What would it look like, how would it answer my travel questions, give me some practical tips, help in planning my stay and in what selected city and for how long? I needed information on what to see, where to eat and how much I would need to spend. Where to sleep and not spend a fortune but to be comfortable and clean. And finally, of course, what to be aware of, to avoid to have a safe and enjoyable holiday, especially when going with a family. Looking at some of the examples from abroad I also thought that perhaps a colourful magazine, of good quality and why not free, a promotional one, would be interesting. And why not here in Poland containing all the information about the country and Warsaw? This was 2000 and looking at the tourist information market then I saw there was no magazine where I could get all this information of quantity and quality and which I could recommend to visitors to our country. So I decided to fill this gap. In 2001 the first edition of our free guide to Warsaw
was introduced onto the market, a year later we decided to copy our success in Kraków
, then Wrocław
, Baltic Coast
and in 2008 Poznań
Today, with a dozen experienced colleagues who produce a ‘fresh' copy of The Visitor every second month, we want to introduce all you Internauts in the world to our new portal which contains even more information, even more facts and tips which we are just not able to put in the printed editions of The Visitor guides because of limits in budget and the capacity of one issue.
So welcome to our new portal which has replaced the regular website here and feel free to browse for any information, advice etc., you need before visiting Poland and whilst you are here. We are just beginning so when you return, soon we hope as there is a lot to see and do, there will be brand new city and regional guides on this website to fill all the grey spots you see now on our navigation map in the centre of the website. Soon we will introduce a forum for Readers with the possibility of leaving notes about hotels or restaurants to help other visitors during their stay. The site will provide you with all the information you need, answer your questions and it will be a place where you can leave your comments, advice and criticism. Soon our site will be the best platform to look for and find information for your trip to Poland!
And now have a look at our first chapter, ‘traveller's info', where you will get the basic information needed to prepare yourself for a trip to Poland. Much of this basic information is to assure you that Poland is a safe and friendly country to visit and explore. The country has changed significantly in the last 15 years, and for the better. The quality of services and infrastructures have improved greatly. Poland has not lost its charm, just become more up to date. There are, however, places you can visit in this country which will take you back some fifty years, where you can enjoy a certain rustic simplicity amongst people who will welcome you and will do all they can to make your holiday just perfect.
Scroll down the information bars on the left side into the chapters and find the information you need. And when you finally arrive to Poland have a Good Holiday, with The Visitor!
